| Abstract: | Fluid compartments of the body. Functions of the kidney and urine formation, thirst
mechanisms. Water, electrolyte and acid – regulation. Buffer mechanisms. Clearance studies.
Control of calcium and glucose metabolism.
Embryogenesis of different reproductive organs. Medical genetics. Sex hormones. Reproductive
cycles. Physiology of pregnancy, parturition and lactations. Foetal and neonatal circulation /
respiration. Excitable tissues (nerve and muscle), reflexes ad receptors. Introduction to nervous
system (central and peripheral), neuro-transmitter substances. Special senses: Vision, hearing,
taste, and smell. |
