Abstract: | The radiometric mapping of Federal University Oye-Ekiti Main Campus along Are-Afao
Locality was carried out in this study. For this purpose, measurement of the radiation
levels were done along 11 major traverses covering the entire developed area of the
Campus. The measurement were carried out by means of a very sensitive portable DSM-
500 Geiger Mueller Survey Meter, with serial number 10005. The results obtained
showed that the global average of radiation level for Federal University Oye-Ekiti Main
Campus was 0.055µSv/hr translating to an annual dose rate of 0.482mSv/yr which falls
below the world average dose limit of 2.4mSv/yr for environmental background radiation
as reported by UNSCEAR,
